This blog is an extension of Food Allergy Empowerment's website at
www.faempowerment.org. Food Allergy Empowerment is a group of parents in Bernards Township, New Jersey. We've found each other amidst the anonymity of suburban life and in doing such we have created an entity to support each other, educate each other and the public, and advocate for our children's safety. If you've seen a food allergic reaction, you "get it." You get how strange and fast and acute and scary it is. You get how important it is for your child to never accidentally ingest something he is allergic to. You get how important it is for your child to always have epinephrine with him/her and be with someone who is trained on when and how to use it. You get how other people don't get it. You get how you have no choice but to send your child to school - a place filled with stuff that can kill them - in the care of well-meaning, caring people who, sometimes, don't get it. When you get together with others who get it, you get...empowered.
